Todd Gurley, a running back who hasn't played since 2020, announced his retirement in an interview with NFL Network on Thursday.
Gurley thanked fellow running backs on Twitter, sparking rumors that he might be considering retirement.
The list is extensive, but Gurley stated, "I want everybody to know how appreciative I am and what they have meant to me as a running back."
Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network enquired as to whether Gurley's retirement was implied by the message.
Gurley asserted, "I don't think I left any question." But all I wanted to do was express my gratitude.
Gurley first entered the NFL in 2015 after the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the first round of the Draft. He spent five seasons with the team, winning the NFC title in 2018, the Offensive Player of the Year award in 2017, and Offensive Freshman of the Year award in 2015.In addition, with 13 and 17, he led the field in rushing touchdowns in 2017 and 2018.
Gurley got a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, but his performance was lacking. With 15 games played, he accrued 678 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He did not sign with another team once his contract expired, and he hasn't played since.
