Cristiano Ronaldo declined to enter the game against Tottenham on Wednesday from the bench, according to Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo won't be going to London with the rest of his teammates, according to the Red Devils, where Chelsea will play host to Ten Hag's club on Saturday.
Cristiano refused to play
Ten Hag stated in the press conference prior to the game, "I am the manager, I am accountable for top spot culture here and I have to set standards and values and I have to govern them.
"We have ideals and standards on the team, which I have to maintain. After Vallecano, I informed him that it was wrong, but that not everyone would face the same punishment because it was the second offense.
"Tomorrow will be without him, which is a loss for the team, but it's vital for the team's mindset and mentality. We must now concentrate on Chelsea because that is crucial.
"I believe it will give him, as well as everyone else, a chance to reflect. I warned him before the beginning of the season; the next time, there must be repercussions. Football is a team sport, and you must uphold certain standards when you live with your teammates and play with them. I must exert control of it."
The club fined Ronaldo £1,000,000 for disregarding his coach's directions, although Ten Hag made no mention of this in the news conference.
